Lodes, the new name of Studio Italia
From 1950 to 2020, Lodes was known in the design world under the name Studio Italia, which was founded by Angelo Tosetto. Currently, the lighting company is run by his grandson, Massimiliano, who changed the name to Lodes on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the family business.
Massimiliano wants to pay tribute to his grandfather with Lodes, coming from the Latin word "Laude" (praise, distinction, honour). Distinction and praise stand for their unique designs of past and present, which are a perfect blend of aesthetic refinement and outstanding design.
A clear evolution in style
The fixtures from Lodes are recognisable by their balanced use of materials. Glass and metal flow seamlessly together and together create a beautiful whole. Copper, brass, or stainless steel was often the first choice especially in the beginning.
Currently, the brand uses modern materials more often, such as plastic. The designs have clearly evolved. The earlier designs reflected traditional designs. Now, Lodes more often thinks out of the box.
Talented designers and engineers
Lodes is sold in more than ninety countries and is increasingly popular with the general public. The company collaborates with a great many talented designers, engineers, and architects.
One of the most well-known designs is the Kelly, an elegant and contemporary lamp. The Nostalgia is completely different in appearance, but is also liked a lot. This striking pendant lamp looks quite similar to a Christmas ornament with its reflective metal frame.
“Design is no longer a driver of uniqueness: it has become a pre-requisite for high-quality products. Good design, and good designers, are responsible for facilitating the relationship between products and users, between forms and experiences.”
